The prices of Morphy Richards small appliances are set to increase early in the new year. This move is due to the currency exchange rate, which has dropped considerably over the last few months.

Talking to Current.com.au, Morphy Richards sales and marketing manager Murray Barnes said the price increase would be effective 1 February 2009, and would be between 9 and 12 per cent.

“This is all due to currency rates flowing through,” said Barnes. “We’d avoid it if we could, but we’re in the hands of the currency rates.”

Barnes also took the opportunity to thank his retail partners for what has been a good year for the supplier, even despite the poor exchange rates and economic concerns.

“We’ve had good growth here, even in tough times. We’ve had a good year; unfortunately the currency has thrown a spanner in the works.”
