HTC Corp boosts marketing department with new recruits

SYDNEY: Mobile phone company HTC Corp Australia and New Zealand recently appointed a new account manager and a new marketing communications manager; one from Sony Ericsson and the other from Fairfax Business Media.

Antal Keur was hired as account manager and Poh-Lee Koh was appointed to the role of marketing communications manager.

HTC announced that Keur has more than 15 years of experience in the mobile phone industry, with particular expertise in product management and business development. He was previously customer portfolio manager at Sony Ericsson where he was responsible for portfolio management, product launch, pre-sales and business development in the Oceania region.

Before that, Keur was reportedly head of product marketing for Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications International’s Australian market unit. According to HTC, while at Sony Ericsson, Keur was active in a number of industry forums on industry, regulatory and compliance matters.

At HTC, Keur’s role will involve strengthening relationships with mobile network operators, distributors and the retail channel and increasing HTC’s presence in the consumer and enterprise market.

Meanwhile, Koh was formerly public relations manager at Fairfax Business Media where she was responsible for the development and implementation of PR plans for the Australian Financial Review and all other Fairfax Business Media titles including BRW, BOSS and the AFR Smart Investor Magazine.

Prior to her Fairfax role, Koh was public relations manager for Asia Pacific at Sony Ericsson, where she reportedly developed regional messaging and ensured consistent campaign integration throughout the region including Australia. Before all that, Koh was marketing specialist at Accenture, Singapore.

HTC stated that Koh’s new role at the company will be managing HTC’s integrated marketing efforts to support the company’s smartphone launch roadmap. She will also be involved in the strategic planning the marketing initiatives to increase the company’s brand awareness in Australia.

“Poh-Lee and Antal are strong additions to our local team,” said Anthony Petts, sales and marketing director HTC Corp ANZ. “They both have impressive experience which illustrates their deep understanding of the mobile industry.”

“We are now heading into an exciting year ahead, with a number of major product announcements that will continue to demonstrate HTC’s commitment to innovation, so they are joining the team at a really great time.”
