Good Guys & Technika may be affected by Antonio Merloni

CAMPBELLFIELD: It is unclear at this stage whether local brands such as Technika will be affected by the decision of Antonio Merloni S.p.a. to apply for protection from bankruptcy and insolvency.

Technika sources whitegoods from Antonio Merloni and supplies retailers in Australia, primarily through its relationship with The Good Guys.

Attempts to contact management at Technika Australia in Melbourne were unsuccessful with company employees claiming that an appropriate spokesperson was unavailable for comment.

Industry sources told Current.com.au that the supply of products to Technika is unlikely to be affected by any temporary closure of manufacturing facilities in Fabriano with such long lead times and existing stock in local warehousing.
