Housewares International (HWI) has appointed Stephen Audsley as its new CEO. This comes almost three months after former CEO Paul Hill announced his resignation.

In a statement to the ASX today, HWI company secretary Shiraz Khan confirmed the appointment, after "an extensive search conducted by Spencer Stuart".

Prior to this appointment, Audsley was the chief financial officer at Pacific Brands. Before that, Audsley was employed by Southcorp.

Talking about this appointment is HWI chairman John Schmoll.

"Steve met our key requirements of not only strong leadership, strategic and executional skills, but also extensive and disciplined operating and marketing experience in branded consumer goods.

"We welcome Steve to our company and look forward to his leading a talented and enthusiastic management team in leveraging the many exciting opportunities that our business has before it," said Scholl.

Stephen Audsley will begin his new role on 22 September 2008.

Housewares International currently distributes Breville, Kambrook and Philips branded appliances.
