SYDNEY: Canon Australia invited the first group of digital video reseller floor staff to its Movie School yesterday, to help train them in the course’s benefits before its September consumer launch.

Held as a sales training exercise, the workshops allow retail staff to experience the same course that will be offered to the general public.

Canon said this move would allow retail sales staff to help sell the courses as an add-on when selling a digital video camera.

The classes will continue running throughout August and September and are being held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. The full schedule is listed below.

At the event, resellers are guided through shooting footage, exploring the camera, editing their recordings and sharing their work.

To encourage participation and creativity, Canon is offering resellers discounts on its HD video camera range and various prizes during the event.

The Movie School will open to consumers in November 2008. Anyone who purchases a Canon HD consumer video camera in September or October 2008 will be eligible to attend.
