MELBOURNE: Clive Peeters has confirmed it will open a new 3,800 square metre store in Coburg, when a new urban shopping centre development under construction there is completed.

The new store, first reported in Melbourne’s The Age newspaper and confirmed by Clive Peeters staff to Current.com.au, will be part of a 24,000 square metre development being built at the site of the former Lincoln Mills factory in Gaffney Street, to be called the Lincoln Mills Homemaker Centre.

The new Clive Peeters store will be joined by an 11,225 square metre Bunnings Warehouse, a 1,119 square metre Officeworks store and a further 8,000 square metres of bulky goods showrooms.

Much of the development is being pushed by the move to higher density suburban living, as envisioned in the State Government’s Melbourne 2030 plan.

The new Homemaker Centre will compete with Northland Shopping Centre in Preston and Essendon Fields.

No completion date has been given for the centre as yet.
