Sony website takes out Hitwise award

SYDNEY: Sony Australia’s website, www.sony.com.au, has been recognized as the most popular website in the consumer electronics industry for 2007 by Hitwise in its Online Performance Awards.

The awards recognise the most visited websites in Australia over the course of a year, and evaluates over 100 different industries including consumer electronics, where Sony’s website drew the most traffic.

Sony announced its win today and said its website is a key aspect of its business in Australia.

“Online is an incredibly important space in today’s environment, especially for the electronics industry,” said Sony Australia group manager – brand marketing, Tim Rich.

“Sony invests a lot of resources into ensuring its website is easy to use, up-to-date and provides consumers with the information they need to make informed purchases and learn more about new technologies such as high definition and Blu-ray Disc.”

Hitwise tracks usage of approximately three million Australian Internet users visiting over 134,000 Australian websites.

The annual Hitwise Online Performance Awards were held in Melbourne on 28 February.
