SYDNEY: Hewlett Packard has released what it claims is the world’s fastest mobile printer, the Officejet H470b.

The company claims the new colour inkjet can print at speeds up to 22 pages per minute in black and white and 18 pages per minute in colour, faster than the published speeds for A4 colour printers under $500 on sale up to July last year.

The printer weighs 2.2 kilograms with battery and can, HP claim, withstand a fifty centimetre drop. It can also be fitted with an optional 6-ink colour cartridge system.

The Officejet H470b can print from notebook PC’s, PDA’s, cameras and memory cards, with a Bluetooth printer adaptor or optional 802.11b/g adaptor. It also comes with optional 12v auto power adapter, and a lithium-ion battery, which HP claims can print up to 480 pages per charge.

This printer is compatible with Windows, Macintosh, Palm, Tablet PC, Pocket PC, and Symbian Series 80 and 90 and is available now for $499
