Sunbeam uses TVC and sports tie-in to build BBQ brand awareness

SYDNEY: Sunbeam is advertising a range of products in a 60-second commercial on the pay TV Lifestyle Channel in conjunction with its ongoing Best Session Eva promotion with www.FOXSPORTS.com.au, as well as radio and outdoor activity.

The ‘Good Times’ commercial features an Aussie ‘backyard hero’ introducing a mate to his ‘true love’ — the new Sunbeam Innovo 4-burner gas BBQ. He then introduces his ‘bit on the side’ in the form of the Sunbeam Beer Mate. Meanwhile his wife watches on, making fun of her husband while making strawberry daiquiris in a Sunbeam MultiBlender.

“The scenario is one we can all identify with,” said Sunbeam category manager – gas BBQs, Adam Tacey.

“There is a sense of pride and excitement when you purchase a new BBQ and it’s undoubtedly a very male obsession. We really want to get across that Innovo offers the best in Australian barbecuing and that Sunbeam has all the additional tools to create the perfect backyard get-together.”

The Good Times and Best Session Eva promotion are scheduled to tie in with the major sporting events throughout spring and summer and aim to build brand awareness through an association with outdoors and sport.
