PORT MACQUARIE: Bing Lee Port Macquarie has given one of its first customers a $20,000 shopping spree to celebrate the brand’s 50th year and its latest store in the New South Wales market.

The Port Macquarie store on the NSW mid-north coast was opened last month after trading as a Retravision store since 1997.

Port Macquarie local, Peter Mackay, won the prize after a draw was conducted based on customers who had made purchases of $50 or more in May.

The grand opening giveaway valued at over $20,000 includes a Panasonic LCD television, Pioneer DVD recorder, Westinghouse stainless steel refrigerator, Fisher & Paykel clothes dryer, Fujitsu air conditioner, Acer notebook computer, various kitchen appliances and electronic equipment.

Peter’s partner, Michelle Bond, who is originally from Sydney, was already familiar with Bing Lee and was pleased there was now one close by.

“I had to explain to Peter who and what Bing Lee was,” Bond said.

“We were going there to find a replacement for our toaster and find a home theatre system for our son’s 18th birthday present.

“Peter couldn’t believe we’d won the package – he stopped in to the store on the way home from work just to make sure it was correct!”

Peter who is a detailing and maintenance manager for a local Ford dealership and Michelle, a nurse, are both very humbled by the win.

“Peter has never won anything before,” Bond said.

“The package has so much in it – everything we could ever need. It is such a generous prize and we are very grateful to Bing Lee.”

Bing Lee Port Macquarie store franchisee, Ian Parker, said the feedback from locals since re-opening has been positive.

“We have had great feedback from customers during our first few months as Bing Lee Port Macquarie and the locals are really enjoying the variety of products under the one roof,” Parker said.
