GERMANY: BSH Appliances has launched a revolutionary new wall-mounted oven that is chalking up design awards both here and abroad.

Imported from Germany, Siemens’ LiftMatic oven uses a unique lift-system to lower the entire oven floor, together with baking trays, onto a worktop, minimising the chance of accidental burning and allowing hot foods to be accessed from three sides at working height.

“It’s a totally new concept that has never that has never been seen before,” said BSH product manager – cooking, Andy Walch.

Siemens’ LiftMatic won a ‘Janus de’l’Industrie 2006’ design award in France for the most creative achievements in manufactured products, and took home the designEx ‘Product Design Award’ for kitchen appliances in Melbourne earlier this year. The designEx award recognises the most exciting, innovate and inspirational products available in Australia.

Designed for installation at eye level to maximise food-preparation areas in typically cramped European kitchens, the LiftMatic features a tough ceramic floor that doubles up as a baking tray and plate warmer.

Other features include five levels or shelves and a ‘speed’ function, which, according to the manufacturer, cuts cooking times by 50 per cent compared with conventional ovens. The LiftMatic also boasts 26 automatic programs, 11 heating methods, side-mounted Halogen lights and pyrolytic cleaning technology.

Siemen’s LiftMatic oven is now available at selected retailers in Australia with a recommended retail price of $4,499. For further information call 1300 368 339.
