SYDNEY: Kambo’s Retravision in Malaga, Western Australia was named the 2007 Retail Store of the Year at the Australian Electrical Retailing (ERA) Awards held on Friday night, with Retravision now securing the honour for two consecutive years.

Judged through a free response from over 100 industry supplier representatives from around Australia, Kambo’s Retravision beat five Harvey Norman stores, from Warrawong, Chadstone, Bundall, Marion and Darwin respectively, as well as Clive Peeter’s Moonah to take the award, following on from Retravision’s Joondalup award last year.

Appliance Retailer and Current.com.au managing editor, James Wells, presented the Retail Store of the Year ERA Award to Retravision Western CEO, Paul Holt, who accepted the honour on behalf of store owner, Peter ‘Kambo’ Kambouris, who is currently overseas.

“The suppliers who voted this store as the best retail store in Australia were consistent in their praise for its layout, staff and promotion,” Wells said on the night.

“The layout was described as ‘first class’ and offering ‘fantastic presentation’ with ‘a diverse range of products’ that are ‘displayed neatly’.

“Staff were recognised as offering a ‘professional approach’ and among the best in the industry, with one supplier describing the store’s staff as ‘highly motivated and incredibly knowledgeable’,” he said.

After final votes were tallied, the Malaga premises attracted the most number of votes in their state and also won its state award by the clearest margin.

Retravision Malaga is a 3,200 square metre store which was opened last year as the flagship of the Retravision retail organisation. It incorporates a kid’s room complete with movies and Playstation consoles, a coffee shop for couples to discuss potential purchases as well as a Ticketmaster office and a bridal registry.
