SYDNEY: The five finalists in the 2007 Electrical Retailing Awards (ERAs) IT and telecommunications category have been confirmed, with home office and personal computers categories set to battle it out for a gong for the first time.

The five finalists as judged by GfK value data, for the $1.2 billion PC category, which includes specifically desktop and notebook PCs, are Acer, Apple, Compaq, HP and Toshiba.

While in the other IT category joining the 2007 ERA Awards, the $1.7 billion Home Office category, the five finalists include Acer, Canon, Compaq, HP and Toshiba. The home office ERA is judged on a combination of multi-function devices, fax machines, PDAs, printers, scanners and monitors on top of notebook and desktop PCs.

The five finalists for the $203 million telecommunications category, in which the ERA will be based on phone devices, include Doro, Oricom, Panasonic, Telstra and Uniden.

The ERAs, which are run by Appliance Retailer magazine and Current.com.au in conjunction with GfK Australia, is the only dedicated awards night that rewards companies for market-leadership in generating both unit volume and dollar value within the Australia electrical retailing industry.

The winning manufacturer will be a market leader in design and innovation, profitability and margin, promotional and advertising support, with sales representation and service backup supporting it.

The ERA Awards will be held at the Sofitel Wentworth in Sydney on Friday 13 April 2007. Contact ana@intermedia.com.au to purchase tickets.
