Sony offers retail staff incentives to get creative with Spider Man 3 display

SYDNEY: In an attempt to replicate the success of the Casino Royale and Da Vinci Code in-store promotions, Sony Australia is offering customers the chance to win a trip to New York every time they spend $50 or more on Sony products.

The Spider Man 3 ‘Live the High Life’ campaign begins on 5 April to coincide with the launch of the film in cinemas on 3 May, with one customer winning a six-night stay in New York City, including a rock-climbing adventure and a pass to the Bronx Zoo to “get up close with some real spiders.”

There is also another 2,000 Sony products and Spider Man 3 passes to be given away, along with $50 cashback on selected Cyber-shot cameras.

Sony will also offer retail initiatives to those who support the High Life promotion. Retailers are encouraged to display any combination of the promotional point-of-sale material made available to them from Sony, including tent cards, wobblers, counter cards and posters, for their chance to win either a double pass to a Spider Man 3 preview screening or one of a selection of Caltex Fuel Cards.

To be in the running for preview tickets, retailers should send a photograph of their Spider Man 3 display to Sony via email at, with their store name, contact phone number, contact name, time and date stamp (for identity verification), before 3 May. 

The offer extends beyond the release of the film however, with those who send photos of their display from 3 May until 29 May automatically entered into the competition for the Fuel Cards.

“Spider Man 3 will be a blockbuster around the world and Sony Australia is looking forward to giving one lucky Sony customer the chance to head off to New York,” said Hargreaves.

“This promotion comes at a great time for Sony and retailers, with a number of cutting-edge and innovative products coming to market that will entice and excite customers.”
