SYDNEY: Creative Labs has announced the release of two new mp3 players due to hit the Australian market in late September – the Zen Neeon 2 and the Zen V Plus.

Both the Zen V Plus and the Zen Neeon 2 are designed to be small and lightweight while embodying many features consumers have come to expect in the mp3 player category.

The Zen Neeon 2, following on from its predecessor the Zen Neeon, will weigh in at 50g and feature voice recorder, line-in recording, 1.5-inch colour display for users to view both photos and videos and come in 1GB (RRP $199.95), 2GB (RRP $279.95) and 4GB (RRP $TBA) storage capacities.

"Following the success of the ZEN Neeon, the ZEN Neeon 2 was designed to extend the functionality of mp3 players while continuing to provide a fantastic user experience,” said Creative Labs senior marketing executive, Vaiju Deb.

The Zen Neeon 2 will also feature simple drag-and-drop operation, meaning consumers need not to install software which use proprietary formats, instead a simplified file transfer method is adopted.

Also to be released in September, is the Zen V Plus, an mp3 player designed to showcase music as well as photo and video on its 1.5-inch OLED colour screen.

“The Zen V Plus is designed to provide an incredible audio and visual experience for users.

“The patented Zen user interface displays vivid photos and videos on the stunning colour screen, and the sound quality is surprising for such a tiny player. The Zen V Plus taps into consumer demand for portable media players that are not only small, light weight and fashionable, but also have a greater amount of features,” said Deb.

The Zen V Plus comes in 1GB (RRP $189.95), 2Gb (RRP $269.95) and 4GB (RRP $329.95) sizes and also features a FM radio, voice recorder, line-in recording with track sync capabilities and is compatible with Microsoft Outlook through the built-in organiser.

An optional remote control is also available for use with the Zen V plus range.
