MELBOURNE: Battery packs supplied with a portable DVD player, exclusively supplied to JB Hi-Fi stores by a company trading as Quality IT Electronics, have been recalled.

According to a statement released by the product safety section of the Australian Consumer and Competition Commission (ACCC) the faulty battery pack has been supplied with the Soniq 7 portable DVD player sold within JB Hi-Fi stores nationally between 13 June 2005 and 2 July 2006.

The Soniq 7 featured a seven-inch LCD screen, built-in stereo speakers and stereo headphone jack. It was compatible with DVD, CD, CD-R, CD-RW and could read mp3s and jpegs.
