SYDNEY: Pebble Electronics, distributors of Conia, Konka and Hicon products, is celebrating 10 years of importing and wholesaling to the Australian market, and puts it success down to hard work, reliability and staying competitive.

“We are extremely proud of the company we have developed over the past decade,” said Pebble general manager, Nicholas Fry.

“What started out over 10 years ago and the dream of our founding directors, Barbara and Sam, has today grown into a vibrant and dynamic business employing in excess of 50 staff in both Australia and overseas.

“Over the past 10 years we have steadily and responsibly grown to the point where we are now a meaningful partner to all of the major national electrical retailers, supplying a diverse and quality range of products to the Australian market,” he said.

The past three years have been particularly busy for Pebble, with product and business expansion helping the company grow into a respected wholesale company.

“We’ve moved into our new national head office and warehouse and have been particularly proactive in expanding our product range and streamlining our customer base.

“Whereas we were initially almost totally reliant on CRT TV and DVD player sales, we’ve strategically expanded our product range and made a very successful entry into flat panel plasma and LCD screens, coupled with associated digital products. We’ve also made genuine inroads with our expansive white goods range, while along the way we’ve maintained a great CRT and DVD business.

“We’ve also seen Colonial First State Equity stake a major claim in our business which has further secured our future, so it’s been an exciting ride and has set us up to continue as a serious and respected wholesale company. We are 100% Australian owned and we’re proud of that,” said Fry.

While Fry pondered the various brands which have come and gone over the past 10 years, he offered the following explanation as to why Pebble has gone the distance.

“We’ve all seen many brands come and go. They arrive with a fanfare, promising this and that, making exorbitant claims and then they realise they have to back it up with a quality product range, professional representation and management and an eye for the long term future. By the time they realise that, it’s too late.

“It has taken us 10 years of diligent and strategic planning to get to where we are today. We are never complacent and we never make big statements about who we are and about being number one.

“Our business philosophy is straight forward – we supply quality, reliable products at competitive pricing so our trading partners can make a profitable return selling our products with great confidence.

“We back it all up with great in-store representation and after-sales service. Our staff are professional and dynamic, and after 10 years we’re all looking forward to the future with much anticipation.”

Conia, Konka and Hicon products can be purchased at The Good Guys, Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, Clive Peeters, JB HiFi, Betta Stores and Retravision.
