SYDNEY: As major sponsor of the National Rugby League (NRL) team, the Sydney Roosters, Samsung is set launch its ‘Healthy Kids Rule The Roost’ campaign to help the club celebrate 100 years of Rugby League in 2007, and encourage kids to lead healthier lifestyles at home and school.

Statistics provided by Samsung show around 40 per cent of Australian children don’t participate in organised sport outside of school hours, and that approximately 1.5 million kids under the age of 18 are overweight or obese.

Sydney Roosters five eighth and Samsung ambassador, Braith Anasta, knows that the health and well being of the children in the local community is of paramount importance.

“Samsung are a strong supporter of the Roosters and I’m just glad I can lend my support to what is a great initiative,” said Anasta.

“It’s important for our kids to adopt healthy lifestyles, and I truly hope that with the help of Samsung’s program we can assist them in starting to achieve their goals.

As part of the ‘Healthy Kids Rule The Roost’ campaign, Samsung will be inviting all primary schools in the Eastern suburbs area to design a poster to help the Sydney Roosters celebrate 100 years in 2007, with the theme of ‘What does 100 years of the Sydney Roosters mean to you?’

The winning design will be printed as part of the 2007 official team poster.

“The Roosters would struggle to exist without the support of our young fans and we want to make a difference in their lives by giving them a platform to improve their way of life,” Anasta said.

The winning entry will have the entire Roosters’ first grade NRL team attend their school to conduct a healthy living and training session, with the winning school also receiving prizes from Samsung including laptops, mobile phone and the latest K5 MP3 player.

Additionally, the entire winning school will be given tickets to attend the Roosters’ final home game of 2006 against the St George/Illawarra Dragons at the Sydney Cricket Ground.
