SYDNEY: Whirlpool Home Appliances has announced the release of the Whirlpool Classic range of side-by-side fridges with energy saving features, as well as a stainless steel top mount fridge.

The Classic range will incorporate increased capacities of up to 740 litres as well as Whirlpool’s proprietary SmartFan technology, which Whirlpool claims will ensure a four star energy rating.

The StartFan cooling system utlises a single evaporator unit, as opposed to the standard two, designed to chill both the fridge and freezer compartments, allowing the freezer to act as a battery storage for cold air, then transferring it into the fridge compartment as the thermostat dictates.

If sensors in the refrigerator indicate the temperature is not optimal, instead of running the compressor and evaporator to cool down the fridge compartment, the cold air in the freezer is circulated into the fridge section leading to a more efficient cooling system.

The Classic range of side-by-side fridges also feature separate humidity-controlled crispers, snack tray and tempered glass shelves with Spillguard and a water and ice dispenser which stores up to three litres and keeps water fresh for up to 5,000 full re-fills.

The range is available in white gloss or stainless steel finishes as well as Whirlpool’s Satina door finish with fingerprint resistant painted steel to mimic the look of stainless steel without the maintenance.

The Whirlpool stainless steel top mount fridge 6WXV47 incorporates Whirlpool’s Sixth Sense technology.

Sixth Sense assesses the users’ current kitchen temperature and amount of food in the refrigerator, and then consistently adjusts accordingly, using just the right amount of energy required at any one time, allowing the 6WXV47 a four star energy rating.

The top mount refrigerator also features several different modes of operation including Party, Vacation and Fast Freeze.
