SYDNEY: Samsung has announced a new range of digital cameras, to be known as New Vision (NV), which will feature integrated music and movie playback capabilities and will spearhead Samsung’s drive to become a top three camera manufacturer by 2010.

New Vision distributor, Adeal announced to current.com.au that the NV range will be in Australia on 1 September.
The new NV line features three models including the hero NV7 (RRP $US 449), the 10 megapixel NV10 (RRP $US 399) and the NV3 (RRP $US 349) with built-in mp3 and video playback option. Australian launch prices have yet to be confirmed.

With Samsung preparing to make a charge on leading camera manufacturers Kodak, Canon and Sony, the integration of music and movie functionality will see the brand create a unique offering to Australian consumers.

The NV3 features 7.2 megapixels, 3x optical zoom, 2.5 inch LCD screen and dual stereo speakers, meaning users can listen to music while taking pictures. The NV3 can also playback mp3, MPEG, AVI, MOV, WMV and ASF files.

The flagship of the range is the NV7 however, which features 7x optical zoom into a slimline body an eight of an inch thick.

The NV7 also features 2.5 inch LCD, 7.2 megapixels, manual and semi-automatic modes, built-in movie editor and a touchpad integrated graphical user interface.

With a similar scrolling feature to the iPod, the NV7 also includes Optical Picture Stabilisation technology (OPS), which Samsung believes will ensure a steady, crystal-clear shot.
