MELBOURNE: Over $60,000 of electronics including plasma flat screen televisions manufactured by Pioneer, Panasonic, Hitachi and LG were stolen from a JB Hi-Fi store in Melbourne earlier this morning.

A report published by News Limited said the JB Hi-Fi store, located on the Nepean Highway at Brighton East, was invaded by thieves at approximately 12.30am this morning.

"It appears the men have gained access to the store via the roof then left via a side door which opens onto a car park and rear laneway," a spokesperson for Victoria Police told News Limited.

According to the report, detectives from the Brighton Criminal Investigation Unit said the thieves took $60,000 worth of plasma screen televisions, Microsoft Xbox games, DVDs and CDs during the robbery.

Police said the branded plasma televisions were manufactured by Pioneer, Panasonic, Hitachi and LG

According to the report, Victoria Police believe more than two people were involved in the robbery and that a truck or van may have been used to take the stolen items way.

JB Hi Fi CEO, Richard Uechtritz, was unavailable for comment today.
