Footage could confirm cause.

A CCTV camera has been recovered from a fire that destroyed the Harvey Norman store in Mt Isa last Friday.

According to a report in The North West Star, camera footage has been sent to Townsville for examination by fire investigators.  A police spokesman said the cause of the fire is still being investigated. He said footage would be reviewed and the outcome will influence how the investigation proceeds. Until this can be determined the incident is being treated as suspicious.

Speaking to AR following the latest breakthrough, Harvey Norman chief operating officer, John Slack-Smith said it was an ongoing police investigation and he could not comment further. However, he added that he expected the retailer would be back in business next week once a temporary site was finalised.
