Well below spending through traditional retail.

Australians spent a total of $20.1 billion in online retail shopping in the 12 months to June 2016, according to a new report commissioned by data analyst group Quantium. This total is well below the amount spent on bricks and mortar retail, which came in at $296.9 billion for June 2015 to May 2016.

While there is still an increase in online retail growth, it is at a lower rate than previous years. For instance, year-on-year growth for June 2011 was 35.9%, while for the 12 months to June 2106 it was just 13.5%.

According to the report it appears what while Australians are spending more money on online shopping the growth rate has clearly slowed to a more modest pace.
