After acquiring former Gerry Gibbs Camera House in Cannington, WA, digiDIRECT has undertaken an overhaul of the store which was taken over in August. The refresh was performed by former owner, Murray Gibbs, assistant manager, Geoff Temple and his staff. It includes new signage on the exterior and interior, a new colour scheme, new floors, fresh paint, relocating the lab services from upstairs to downstairs and updated equipment.

“digiDIRECT acquired a store with a long history, and despite the demise of a long standing Camera House member, we were prepared to look at its future prospects with optimism. The fixtures, fittings and equipment all needed some love and attention, particularly after the stock had been taken away by the liquidators,” digiDIRECT general manager, Sina Clayton told Appliance Retailer.

Last month, the Cannington Opening Sale Event was launched along with a radio and online campaign. Since then, store trade has picked up again.

“We are excited about the next few months as we hit our straps for our peak selling season and we look forward to not just winning back the Gerry Gibb’s clientele but to win over new ones,” Clayton said.

digiDIRECT Cannington assistant manager, Geoff Temple added, “We have many regular customers come back through the doors and they are pleasantly surprised by the refresh look and the expanded choice of stock now available.

“digiDIRECT has also directed new customers to the store who have been online customers but are now happy to see a digiDIRECT location in WA for demonstrations on the products on offer. The photo lab is now downstairs for lab staff to directly consult with print customers for a more personalised interaction and better explanation of the wide variety of print services we offer. The now vacant area upstairs will see more regular training sessions and product launches to provide our customers with greater knowledge and better insights into the wide variety of products we have.”
