To help prevent food waste.

Sunbeam is investing in demonstrations, in-store POS, retail training and social media to promote its latest FoodSaver products.

Sunbeam Australia head of marketing activation, Elena Pintado told Appliance Retailer, “The FoodSaver system is designed to never waste good food again by extending the freshness of food by up to five times longer than ordinary storage (such as cling wrap, reseal bag etc).”

“For example, a piece of steak that would last up to six months in the freezer, can last up to three years when stored using the FoodSaver system. Alternatively, a cut avocado that would normally spoil in two days in the fridge, can last up to 10 days and be as fresh as the day you sealed it,” she said.

Australian households waste on average 20% of all the food they buy, or one in every five bags of groceries, equating to over 4 million tonnes of waste every year in Australia, according to Foodwise research.

The FoodSaver campaign implemented by Sunbeam encourages consumers to “Never Waste Good Food Again” and raise awareness of the FoodSaver brand and system. It also educates consumers about the benefits the product can provide every kitchen across Australia.

“The campaign involves TV investment across November and December, user generated content by FoodSaver ambassadors creating hundreds of content pieces online, search activity, YouTube, Facebook and Instagram video content. In-store the campaign is supported via a national end cap program in The Good Guys and visual FoodSaver system display units across all retailers,” Pintado explained.

“The campaign will also communicate the launch of the new FoodSaver appliance, VS6100 Urban Series and the brand new FoodSaver Containers, which are BPA free, dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe. Also launching is a Quick Marinator container – under vacuum the pores of food open, allowing flavour to be absorbed in minutes not hours,” she noted.
