DHL Supply Chain opened its sixteenth e-cycling drop off site in Australia and the first for the Sydney region with the launch of the Kimbriki Drop Zone in Sydney’s northern beaches yesterday. The site, which is roughly 25 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD, will offer e-waste recycling as part of the National Television and Computer Recycling Scheme.

The opening was attending by local council representatives, the Parliamentary Secretary for Sustainability and Urban Water, Senator Don Farrell, and the director of Sony Australia, Nic Foster. The vice president of service logistics and domestic transport for DHL Supply Chain South Pacific, Richard Phillips, also attended the launch and spoke about DHL’s goals in e-cycling.
“DHL is pleased to have launched a Drop Zone in Sydney and is looking forward to further expanding our solution across the city,” said Phillips. “In the coming 3 months, DHL plans to open a further 7 Drop Zones in Sydney, making the free recycling service more accessible to greater numbers of Sydneysiders.
“This site is the 16th site secured by DHL under our solution, joining sites in the ACT, South Australia and Victoria” he said.
The centre will offer free facilities for consumers and small businesses to drop off used computers and televisions at end-of-life, to prevent these products from entering landfill.
