Keynote address to lay bare artificial intelligence technology.
The woman who has been named to Fortune magazine’s “50 Most Powerful Women in Business” for 10 consecutive years, IBM chair, president and CEO, Ginni Rometty (pictured), will kick off CES 2016 at 4:30pm Wednesday, January 6, in the Venetian’s Palazzo Ballroom.
Consumer Technology Association president and CEO, Gary Shapiro stated that,”IBM continues to innovate at the intersection of technology and business, with a history of unlocking not just new products and services, but new eras. Today, with Watson, they are changing the way we think. These cognitive systems will understand, reason and learn from the world’s new natural resource: data.
For the uninitiated, IBM Watson is a technology platform that uses natural language processing and machine learning to reveal insights from large amounts of unstructured data.
“Ginni has such an entrepreneurial spirit – we welcome her insight to the CES keynote stage, where she will present her vision for the future of business and technology,” Shapiro added.
“Rometty began her IBM career in 1981 in Detroit, Michigan. Before being named chairman in 2012, she held a series of senior leadership positions at IBM, including senior vice president of Global Business Services, where she led the successful integration of PricewaterhouseCooopers Consulting, the largest acquisition in professional services history.
As CEO, Rometty is presently spearheading IBM’s transformation and leading the company in innovations such as Watson and cloud, that will usher in the new era of cognitive business.
Rometty graduated from Northwestern University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree with high honors in computer science and electrical engineering. She currently serves on the Council on Foreign Relations, the Board of Trustees of Northwestern University, and the Board of Overseers and Board of Managers of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.
