NOOSA, QUEENSLAND: Poor weather across Queensland over December has wreaked havoc on cooling product sales at Pannell’s Retravision stores on the Sunshine Coast.
Rob and Jeff Pannell, who own stores at Maroochydore, Noosa and Coolum, reported strong sales across November and December, but said cooling product sales had slumped.
“Flat panel went extremely well – in any sizes and as a result we sold some home theatre off the back of that,” said Pannell.
“GPS went very well and video cameras were surprisingly stronger than they were last year and of course there was mp3.
However, he said the weather had been “shocking.”
“Anything relating to cooling, refrigerators and air conditioning, have been diabolical. It has been so cold and rainy with temperatures around 25 or 26 degrees – it feels like summer hasn’t really kicked in. Hopefully in a week’s time it should get rid of this cyclonic weather,” he said.
In the small appliance category, Pannell also reported strong sales of novelty products as well as coffee machines, particularly with the introduction of the Saeco brand to the Retravision business.
