Sony is giving away a free pair of Bluetooth wireless headphones worth $200 with the purchase of a specific DAB+ digital radio in the lead-up to Mother’s Day.

This gift with purchase is part of a wider awareness campaign for the technology that will run across 42 commercial radio stations between now and Sunday 10 May 2015.

The DAB+ radio in question is the XDRDS21BT (RRP $229). It features NFC technology for quick and easy connections and can also double as an alarm clock. The free headphones are the MDR-ZX550BN, which include noise cancelling technology.

Retailers joining in the promoting include Harvey Norman, Dick Smith, JB Hi-Fi, Bing Lee, The Good Guys, Domayne and Joyce Mayne. All told, there are expected to be 650 points of purchase for this offer.

“This promotion demonstrates the strong gift appeal of DAB+ devices,” Commercial Radio Australia CEO Joan Warner told me. “We are very pleased that Sony and these key retailers across Australia continue to support digital radio with this campaign.”

Abel Makhraz, head of video, sound and tablet at Sony Australia told me that, “Partnering with Commercial Radio Australia is a brilliant opportunity for Sony to drive consumer awareness ahead of the launch of our expanded DAB+ digital radio range this year”.

The 30-second ads promoting this deal will run in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
