Smeg SAP3900X
Smeg’s new SAP3900X built-in 90-centimetre.

Smeg has unviled a 90-centimetre built-in oven to complement the Smart range of ovens it released in June 2013. The new SAP3900X is a pyrolytic oven with a 90-litre capacity and a TFT touchscreen so home chefs can interact with the appliance like they would a tablet or smartphone.

At the core of Smeg’s Smart oven range is S-Logic, an OS-style collection of functions that has been tuned to specifically meet Australian cooking needs, such as the local perception of rare, medium and well done; and including seafood varieties common in the antipodes.

Here is Smeg explaining the technology:

S-Logic technology delivers a vast array of functions in the most easily accessible form; one function leads seamlessly to another so the user is able to negotiate the controls effortlessly and logically. And Smart Sense is a self-guiding program whereby the user can access 50 pre-set recipes for meat, fish and vegetable dishes that will advise the optimum temperature, shelf height and duration for the best results every time. A further bonus is that all the recipes have been written for Australian produce and Australian culinary preferences. Users can also add ten of their own recipes to the oven’s memory.

Some of the special features of this oven include baking bread, slow-cooking and energy-saving mode. The door is quadruple glazed and Smeg is promoting it as being cool-t0-touch no matter how high the internal temperature.

The SAP3900X will be Smeg’s flagship 90-centimetre built-in model and is RRP $4,990.

This oven is expected to be on show at EuroCucina in Milan, beginning Tuesday 8 April 2014. Stay tuned to Appliance Retailer for all the latest news from this major appliance conference.
