SYDNEY, NSW: Consumer electronics brands have today dominated the nominations for the 2010 Australian International Design Awards. Almost 20 well-known brands are up for awards, with Breville and Electrolux leading with five and three nominations respectively.
The five Breville nominations are for the Wizz Planetary Mixer, Smart Grill, Smart Oven, Breville BKE820 Professional 800 Variable Temperature Kettle and the Fresca Espresso Machine. Electrolux is nominated for the En-V Barbeque, the UltraOne vacuum cleaner and the Ebony Refrigeration Collection.
Other products nominated for awards include the LG Borderless TV, the Sunbeam Innovo Thermo Twin Block, the Miele Island Cooker Hood, the Samsung Space refrigerator and the Samsung Heba Washer and Dryer Combo.
The popular Nespresso coffee machines have been recognised, with the Citiz range honoured for their “visual identity”. Jura was also nominated, for its Impressa Z7 Chrome.
Both Dyson Air Multiplier and the DC31 Motorhead Handheld received acclaim, as did the Neff Single Oven and the Tefal Ingenio Cocoon.
Currently on show at a Sydney food and wine show in Centennial Park, the Smeg Linear Pyrolytic 60-centimetre oven has been nominated.
Bosch and Siemens were nominated for two awards each; Bosch for the EcoLogixx Condenser Dryer and the Home Professional Vacuum Cleaner, and Siemens for its Built-in Pyrolytic Oven and Fully Automatic Coffee Machine.
The winners will be announced on Friday 4 June 2010.
