Gerard Sourcing and Manufacturing has reissued a recall notice for the Linda electric blanket. This follows a request from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission on 31 March 2011 for a progress report one year after the original recall.

According to the manufacturer, there is a risk of possible electric shock or electrocution from blankets sold from 1 March 2009 to 30 November 2009. This is due to a “severe” bend to the electrical supply lead located at the connector to the blanket.

Linda models (Super Slumber and Sleep Safe) include SUPSLMAN-LS, SUPSLMAN-LS/F, SUPSLMAN-DQ,
SPLSFW-LS/F, SPLSFW-DQ/F and SPSFW-K/F; they pertain to the following batch codes: WE001/0804, WE001/0807, WE001/0813 and WE001/0815.

To ensure the ongoing safe operation, GSM International has arranged to provide replacement controllers.

The products were sold through Harris Scarfe and Big W in New South Wales, South Australia, Tasmania and Victoria.
