LG Electronics Australia has appointed former Nokia veteran Jonathan Banks as its new head of mobile. Banks replaces Ben Glimmerveen, who has returned to the United Kingdom.
Prior to joining LG, Banks held several sales roles at Nokia Australia and Nokia Asia Pacific, from 2005 to 2012. Most recently he was based in Beijing, China, as the head of sales for the region.
Banks has also worked at Arnott’s, Cadbury and Energizer.
One of his first jobs in the new role will be to launch the LG Optimus G, a flagship ‘superphone’ that is tipped to compete strongly with Samsung’s Galaxy S III. This launch is in Sydney on Wednesday 13 March 2013.
