“Marsala is a subtly seductive shade, one that draws us in to its embracing warmth.”
-Leatrice Eiseman, executive director, Pantone Color Institute.
Pantone has overnight revealed the 2015 Color of the Year (sic) is Marsala, “a naturally robust and earthy wine red, [that] enriches our minds, bodies and souls”.
In a classic case of the observer influencing the observed, simply because Pantone has suggested that this deeply visceral colour, which brings to mind rich foods, sensuality and hot blooded passion will be on-trend next year, it is likely to be so.
Talking specifically about Marsala housewares, Eiseman said, “Nurturing and fulfilling, Marsala is a natural fit for the kitchen and dining room, making it ideal for tabletop, small appliances and linens throughout the home. The hue will be especially prominent in striping and floral patterns found in printed placemats, dinnerware, bedding and throws.”
We look forward to seeing Marsala toned toasters, kettles, coffee machines, vacuum cleaners and even the odd major appliance through 2015 and beyond.
