Nespresso has launched its first cold brew style coffee capsule, allowing customers to create a cold brew coffee in minutes, rather than several hours.

The Cold Brew Style Intense capsule forms part of the Craft Brew range for Nespresso Vertuo coffee machines.

Traditionally, cold brew relies on time to extract the coffee’s oils, sugars, and caffeine to create a smooth and silky profile. It comes chilled and is the result of coarsely-ground coffee that has been submerged in cold water for between 12 and 24 hours; a process which draws out more flavour the longer it sits.

Inspired by the ‘hot bloom’ method, the Nespresso Vertuo system’s brewing technology speeds up the process.

It starts by brewing the blend at a hot temperature for a short amount of time to bring out the roasted caramel notes of the Latin American Arabica beans, before switching to cool water for the rest of the extraction to remove unwanted bitterness. Simply fill the water tank with cool water (below 10°C), add the Cold Brew Style Intense capsule and press the button to extract.

Nespresso Australia coffee ambassador, Mitch Monaghan believes this is one of the most innovative coffee blends yet from Nespresso.

“In recent years, cold brew coffee has become increasingly popular in Australia, thanks to its smooth and refreshing profile, with less bitterness. However, not everyone has the time, patience, or expertise to make cold brew style coffee at home. We are excited to present an easier option that’s convenient and doesn’t compromise on taste with Cold Brew Style Intense,” he said.

Cold Brew Style Intense coffee blend is available to purchase in Nespresso boutiques, online at nespresso.com.au, through the Nespresso app or by contacting Nespresso on 1800 623 033.

In July, Nespresso will be launching a range of new cold coffee accessories designed to enhance the cold brew coffee experience.
