One of the clear signs that Betta Stores Retail, the association for Betta Home Living outlets, is an organisation on the move is its public call for franchisees.

Among similar franchisee or member based consumer electronics retailers, Betta Stores Retail is the only one calling on interested parties to contact its group operations manager to discuss joining.

“Our Betta Electrical stores are serviced by a lean and cost effective national office, offering our retailers buying, merchandising, marketing, advertising and promotional services,” reads the BSR website. “As part of the Betta Electrical brand, you will receive a comprehensive annual marketing, advertising and promotional programme.

“On the store floor, you have access to the company's IbGlobal IT system — considered one of the best retail management systems operating in the electrical industry.

“IbGlobal provides many benefits to your business, including up-to-date pricing, user friendly point of sale, unsurpassed inventory control and all the reporting facilities you require to manage your successful electrical retail business.

“Of course, as a member of the BSR Group, you are additionally provided access to a professional helpdesk, which not only assists your team with any technical issues, but provide guidance and training in system best practices.”

The BSR website also lists the mobile phone number of the contact interested parties should call for a “confidential discussion”.

While rival retailer Harvey Norman does not make an explicit call for new franchisees on its website, it does host a comprehensive jobs wizard for individuals to work in Harvey Norman stores across the country.

Similarly, The Good Guys invites individuals to apply for head office jobs though it does not advertise for new franchisees, which are called ‘Joint Venture Partners’ in that organisation.

The Retravision website has no mention of job or membership opportunities.
