Samsung Australia has announced that it is entering the highly competitive notebook and mini-notebook market in Australia, and is promising innovative features to capture consumer’s attention.

Lighter, brighter, longer is the message that Samsung is giving Australian consumers with the release of its two full sized notebook releases, the X460 and R610.

Samsung is boasting that these new additions to the notebook market are lighter in weight than any other of its size, have a brighter screen and offer a superior battery life.

The 14.1-inch X460 is Samsung’s premium light-weight notebook, at just 1.8kg, and offers a LED display which is up to 33 per cent brighter than traditional LCD screens.

The 16-inch R610 is also available and Samsung claim it is designed to be a desktop replacement, due to its large screen full sized keyboard and outstanding battery life.

In addition to these two models, Samsung is also promoting a new range of mini-notebooks, the NC20 and N120.

One of the key features of these two mini-notebooks is the fact that they are equipped with a full sized keyboard, to offer consumers a much better typing experience.

Current.com.au spoke with Emmanuele Silanesu, business manager – notebooks, IT division, yesterday and he commented how the entire range of notebooks and mini-notebooks are a ramification of extensive research into the category.

“We found that after asking consumers what they want out of a notebook they asked for three things: lighter weight, brighter screen and have a longer lasting battery. So that’s what we are offering them,” he said.

He also mentioned how Samsung are opting to slowly launch this new range into the market, and create awareness of Samsung as a notebook manufacturer.

In addition he also expressed how Samsung are keen to be a player in both the premium market and value.

“On one side we are not the most expensive brand out there, but we are offering competitive prices for the product.”

“We don’t want to be a price leader, we want to be a value leader.”

The X460 and R610 will RRP for $2,999 and $1,999 respectively and the NC20 and N120 RRP for $999 and $899 respectively.
