SYDNEY, NSW: Omega Smeg used its substantial stand at DesignEx to profile its new Linear range of ovens complemented by new freestanding cookers, induction cooktops and an innovative sink collection.
According to Omega Smeg national projects manager, Allan King, the focus of the stand is the new Linear ovens, which are available in steam, convection, microwave, combination and coffee configurations that can either be installed in a straight line or in a cube formation.
Supporting the Linear range was the classic Canali range, with both ranges featured in both light and dark fitout configurations to suit most kitchen designs.
The most attention on the stand was given to the induction wok burners which were available in two configurations: with three adjacent induction elements (RRP $3990) and the standalone wok burner (RRP $2990).
Also on the stand was a prototype Smeg refrigerator in a unique black velvet finish.
The refrigerator, which features a special matt paint sourced through 3M, was contrasted by an earlier range of products featuring high gloss black enamel finishes.
The Smeg freestanding cooker was one of the hero products on the stand. Priced at $13,000, it features 90-centimetre and 60-centimetre ovens, a large central electric hotplate and a large 18 megajoule wok burner within the cooktop configuration.
A separate alley at the display was devoted to new gas cooktops, as well as sinks which feature panels to cover the sink, giving the appearance of an induction cooktop.
