Panasonic has announced that the first generation of its new range of NeoPDP plasma screen TVs will start hitting stores by the end of the week.

Paul Reid, director, consumer electronics group, Panasonic Australia was confident that the new VIERA G10 plasma  will be well received in the market due to the strong demand in the flat panel category.

“The arrival of NeoPDP signals a revolution for plasma in Australia, confirming its place as the best choice for larger screen sizes,” he said.

“During the next few months Panasonic will be progressively introducing more NeoPDP models featuring thinner screens, improved energy efficiency and even 1080p Full HD wireless connectivity.”

Reid outlined that that the flat panel market performed exceedingly well in the first quarter of 2009 with an approximate growth of 25 per cent, compared to the same period 12 months ago.

“The combination of a relatively resilient Australian economy and a shift in focus towards in the home – a trend referred to as cocooning – had contributed to continuing strong demand for flat panels televisions,” he said.

“Panasonic’s most advanced plasma range has arrived at a perfect time for consumers.”

The Panasonic VIERA TH-P42G10A Full HD Plasma TV will RRP for $2,749 and is available from consumer electronics retailers by the end of the week.
