Beko has recalled a number of condenser dryers in its range due to an issue with the capacitor in affected models.
According to a recall notice on the ACCC recalls website, the Beko Condenser Dryer 7kg can cause a fire hazard because “in limited circumstances, a combination of high heat and humidity may cause an electrical capacitor to fail”.

The dryers can be identified by the serial numbers 12-xxxxx-05, 12-xxxxx-06, 12-xxxxx-07, 12-xxxxx-08, 12-xxxxx-09 and 12-xxxxx-10, where the 12 denotes the year of production and the final two-digit number denotes the month.
The affected models were sold across Victoria from 14 November to 20 December 2012, and were sold in E&S Trading, Camberwell Electrics and Betta Electrical Prahran.
The ACCC offered the following advice to consumers affected by the recall.
“Check the model number and serial number of your 7kg Condenser Tumble Dryer,” the ACCC said. “The serial number is on the rating plate [see image below] and is 10 digits long. The first 2 digits of the serial number give the year of production and the last 2 digits give the month of production.
“All affected products were manufactured between May and October 2012. If your model and serial number matches those attached, please contact Beko Australia & New Zealand on 1300 282 356.”
The affected Beko Condenser Dryers can be identified by a plate on the front of the machine (click image above for a larger view).
