Fisher & Paykel has moved towards a more streamlined aesthetic across its family of kitchen appliances, with the launch of a refreshed range of refrigerators in its ActiveSmart line-up.

According to F&P, the updated models feature a “new-look” slimline water dispenser on the front, complete with a black interface and chrome trimming designed to match other products including the brand’s new 60cm Built-in Oven, the DishDrawer and of its cooktop range.

Other new features rolled out across the updated line-up include a “ultra slim” water dispenser, an Ice Boost mode that increases ice production by 30 per cent (compared to previous F&P models) and a SmartTouch control panel, designed by F&P’s New Zealand design team, on the inside right of the fridge.

The refrigerators take their name from the ActiveSmart technology that drives the appliances, consisting of a microprocessor, interior temperature sensors, variable speed fans and multiple air ducts — all of which is uniquely described by Fisher & Paykel.

“The microprocessor controls how the fridge operates and receives information from the sensors, which take note of your individual usage. In layman’s terms, ActiveSmart fridges know that apples like to breathe while lettuce likes to hold its breath.”

The refreshed range is available now.

In other Fisher & Paykel news, the brand has revamped its website with a sleek black and white look that echoes its ‘YUM’ branding (seen across retail point of sale and trade events) and a strong focus on cooking and lifestyle.

The new website has sections dedicated to product design, recipes and insights on the way consumers use their appliances, as well as offers and promotional videos.

One such video, launched recently, is a high-concept advertisement with a focus on the dining experience, rather than the appliances themselves. A hat tip goes to Fisher & Paykel — we’d struggle to think of a dinner party this silent!
