American appliance brand Whirlpool has released two new top loading washing machines. Amazingly, this is the first refresh of Whirlpool’s top loader range in over 30 years.

The new machines are sub-branded Cabrio. Made in the United States, these machines have 8-kilogram capacities, 3.5-star WELS ratings and 2.5-star MEPS ratings.

The premium Cabrio has 11 wash cycles, including bulky, heavy duty, whites and quick wash; and six wash options including ecoboost, extra rinse and deep clean.

There are also five temperature settings, four soil level option, three spin speeds and a 23-hour start delay feature.

The standard Cabrio has the same 11 wash cycles but only two wash options (eco normal and quick).

“We have listened to consumers and designed the Cabrio range with the modern Australian household in mind,” said category manager for fabric care Jacqui McEwing. “We’ve developed easy-to-use functionality on our new top loaders that will guarantee perfect wash results every load without compromising on water or energy efficiency.”

“Where traditional washers use between 150-180 litres of water per wash, the high efficiency Cabrio range uses less than 100 litres for the same result.”

The Cabrio premium (6AWTW5700XW) is RRP $1,099. The standard (6AWTW5550XW) is RRP $999.
