CAIRNS, QLD: Queensland retailer WOW Sight & Sound opened its 11th store yesterday in Cairns, located at the corner of Mulgrave Road and McCoombe Street, which is part of an ongoing expansion plan with sites under development in other states over the next 12 months.
The company, which is an independent retailer not affiliated with any buying group, started in Queensland but is planning to expand into other states soon.
“We’re looking at opening more stores over the next 12 months — we have an expansion plan and there are sites under development in other states,” said WOW Sight & Sound national sales manager, Don Mayne
The Cairns store is one of numerous stores scheduled to open before Christmas this year.
“It’s the first store we have opened in Cairns,” Mayne added. “We have a store in Townsville and in November last year we opened in Mackay. Cairns has always been a town that has been earmarked for a WOW store and the WOW concept is a good fit in Cairns.”
As the name suggests, WOW focus on sight and sound products, selling a range of home entertainment systems, computers, digital cameras, CDs, DVDs and car audio.
“We’re a home theatre, home entertainment and computer specialist store,” Mayne said. “We don’t venture into white goods or air conditioning or small appliances where we don’t have great experience.
“We offer the biggest range of flat panel televisions, car audio and SOHO in Australia. We stick to what we know well and what our customers tell us that they want. The atmospheres and layout in a WOW store is exciting and our customers appreciate it.”
