AUCKLAND: Wayne Burton, the CEO of Appliance Connexion – New Zealand’s largest independent buying group – has been tragically killed in a hit and run accident which occurred in the Auckland suburb of Bucklands Beach last night.
“It is with deep sadness and regret that I inform you of the death of Wayne Burton, CEO of Appliance Connexion Ltd, as the result of a tragic accident,” said Appliance Connexion chairman Peter Drummond, in a short statement released this morning.
“Wayne was walking with his wife Heather, when he was hit by a passing motorist, the accident occurred in Bucklands Beach last evening. Our heartfelt thoughts are with Heather, Leigh, Rhys and Tasha and his grandchildren Jack and Ella, during this difficult time.”
Appliance Connexion is New Zealand’s largest independent electrical buying group and joined the Narta group in August 2007. Is the largest member of Narta New Zealand, representing approximately half of the group’s turnover with 72 members and 100 store fronts. Members of Appliance Connexion include the 100 per cent branded retailers as well as members such as L. V. Martin, Magness Benrow Appliances and The Appliance Shed.
“Wayne’s tragic accident has deeply saddened all who knew him and our sympathy and thoughts are with Heather her family,” Narta managing director, Kay Spencer told Current.com.au.
