SYDNEY: Small appliance maker Breville is raising much-needed funds for breast-cancer by auctioning six limited edition pink Avanti Ionic Wet to Sleek straighteners, each autographed by a local celebrity.
“Thousands of Australian women are affected by breast cancer each year," Breville general manager – marketing, Cameron Searle said in a statement.
"Fortunately, through the continued dedication of the National Breast Cancer Foundation, improvements in research are helping find the cause and the cure. Breville is a proud supporter of the National Breast Cancer Foundation and we developed the pink straightener to help the foundation with their cause," he said.
The Young Divas, Liz Ellis, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Olivia Newton-John, Claudia Karvan and Jackie O have all supported the cause, and consumers can log onto the Breville website at www.breville.com.au to bid in the auction for one of the six personally-signed hair straighteners.
The bidding, which opened on Friday 8 December, closes this Friday 15 December, and all proceeds will be donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
Breville Personal Care assistant category manager, Sabrina Smith, told Current.com.au that she is confident customers will find the cause worthwhile.
“Breville is confident that Australian women will be compelled to purchase products which support the National Breast Cancer Foundation, over other brands.”
For those who miss out on the auction, non-signed versions of the Avanti Ionic Wet to Sleek Straightener are available exclusively in David Jones stores, for $79.95, with a percentage of the proceeds also going to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
“By purchasing the Pink Breville Avanti Ionic Wet to Sleek straightener, women across the nation will look and feel great, while knowing they are giving back to a great cause. We believe this is a very powerful mix which will see strong sales of the straightener and a significant contribution for the National Breast Cancer Foundation,” said Smith.
In-store models of the straightener feature the National Breast Cancer Foundation logo on the packaging, and signage around the product will promote Breville’s association with the cause.
Breville has been a Silver Sponsor of the National Breast Cancer Foundation for the past three years and has launched two pink-coloured personal care products in this time.
