Australia’s leading circular economy retailer and social enterprise, Circonomy has opened its purpose-built ‘recommerce’ store in Reservoir, north of Melbourne, providing shoppers with affordable and sustainable products.

Circonomy founder and chief evangelist, Yas Grigaliunas said, “In a world of fast-paced consumerism, Circonomy was founded with a vision to create a better future for our planet and its people. Our mission is to mobilise dormant goods and reduce waste, making quality products accessible while preserving our environment.”

Circonomy’s new store encourages conscious purchasing with a range that includes ‘imperfect’ products due to damaged packaging from customer returns, new products that are no longer considered ‘in-season’, or items that have been repaired or refurbished.

By partnering with major national brands, including Catch, Officeworks, David Jones, and Azura, Circonomy offers a unique retail experience with new products arriving weekly – and sometimes daily.

Product categories include office, furniture, pet supplies, homewares, technology, clothes, shoes, baby products and more, offered at up to 80% off RRP. All products come with a 12-month warranty and a 30-day change of mind guarantee.

Circonomy CEO, Ryan Swenson said, “We are thrilled to be able to help even more Australians access affordable products that are also sustainable as we head into the Christmas period. We’re proud that with our new outlet, and increasing products available online, we can play a small part in helping to alleviate some of the current cost of living challenges. While we can’t guarantee specific products or quantities, we believe that our unique ‘surprise chain’ model and ever changing assortment means there is something for everyone.”

In line with the brand’s values and commitment to create a world without waste, Circonomy has embraced a circular economy model in its store design and fit out, giving a second chance to in-store fittings and fixtures, including custom-made timber shelving. Warehouse racking is repurposed and shopping trolleys are locally produced from recycled milk cartons.

The company integrates repair and reuse into their everyday operations, including running community repair events to promote the benefits associated with extending the use of products and materials.
