Apple has unveiled its new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in addition to a slew of new models in its Apple Watch series.

Describing the new iPhone 7, Apple’s senior vice president of worldwide marketing, Philip Schiller said: “The completely redesigned cameras shoot incredible photos and videos, day or night, the A10 Fusion chip is the most powerful chip on a smartphone, while delivering the best battery life ever in an iPhone and a new stereo speaker system provides twice the sound, all within the first water and dust-resistant iPhone.” Other new inclusions include the brightest Retina HD display ever in an iPhone with a wide colour gamut for cinema-standard colours and the biggest release to date of the iOS operating system that delivers more animated ways to message.

The new iPhone7 models in silver, gold, rose gold and a new black finish will be available in Australia from September 16.

The new Apple Series 2 watch comes with built-in GPS, is water resistant to 50 metres and sports a new dual –core processor making it 50% faster plus a brighter display – at 1,000 nits – for easier use on sunny days.  The watch comes in gold, rose gold and silver or space grey aluminium as well as silver or black stainless steel paired with a wide variety of band colours.  The new Apple Watch in hard-wearing ceramic has a scratch-resistant, white pearl finish.  The release date is September 16.

Apple is continuing its partnership with Nike with the new Apple Watch Nike+. Designed especially for runners it comes with a built-in GPS functionality and is water-resistant to 50 metres. It will be available locally in late October.

Apple also introduced new Apple Watch Hermès in new styles and colours.  It pairs an exclusive watch face with an expanded assortment of bands incorporating the Hermès signature palette. A new water-resistant model is available with GPS features and signature orange sport band with availability from September 26.
