Aldi has issued a recall on selected electric blankets from its house brand ‘Lumina’ range due to the risk of fire or electric shock.
The Lumina electric blankets were supplied by Global Source Trading Pty Ltd and sold in Aldi stores across Australia in April 2010 and April 2012. Available in Single (EB91SB), Queen (EB193QB) and King (EB203KB) sizes, the blankets can be identified by the batch code 04/2012 for all products sold in 2012, and by the batch code 04/10 for the single and king size blankets sold in 2010. The products feature the electrical approval number N20135.
According to the product recall notice, “the cord between the controller and the blanket may become fatigued, resulting in a potential short circuit or arcing”. As a result, the electric blankets pose the risk of “fire or electric shock”.
Consumers are advised to immediately cease using the blanket and return it to their nearest Aldi store for a full refund.
