Electrolux Home Products has hosted a virtual Wellbeing Day with over 300 employees from Australia and New Zealand in attendance.

Electrolux ANZ has had a Wellbeing Program for employees for almost 10 years. This program, titled ‘Shape Your Wellbeing’ to tie in with the Electrolux mantra of ‘Shaping Living for the Better’, has recently expanded to become a global program. Wellbeing Day was the first of it’s kind to be held online and was designed to break up the work routine and help employees reset.

“Wellbeing has always been a natural part of our culture, but we wanted to create a more formalised program that was led by a committee of employees from various departments,” Electrolux HR director, Sarah Gibbs told Appliance Retailer.

“In the past, we have arranged flu vaccinations and skin checks for our employees to create more awareness around health for not only our teams, but their family and friends. This year, we have also held virtual events and online presentations to keep employees engaged. As we continue to face lockdown, we decided to develop an online Wellbeing Day to allow employees to focus on themselves.”

The Wellbeing Day started with a meditation session, followed by a discussion around books, music and travel destinations which ignited a sense of excitement and passion as staff reminisced on previous holidays and looked forward to future travel plans. Electrolux then engaged a personal trainer based in Canada who focused on strength training and how people can best look after their body.

Kids in the Kitchen cooking session.

Electrolux training designer, Vicky hosted a ‘kids in the kitchen’ event for the whole family to learn how to cook homemade sausage rolls and decorate a cake. There were also Beefeater BBQ and Vintec wine sessions, with the day wrapping up with an interactive quiz led by the leadership team.

Participants learnt how to make homemade sausage rolls.

Prior to the session, employees participated in a scavenger hunt to find items outside and take photos to share with the group.

“Our aim was to cultivate and feel the buzz of our culture in a virtual capacity. We wanted to make it as interactive as possible and get families involved. We received very positive feedback and it was clear that employees have been missing the camaraderie between teams while working remotely. Having such high participation was reflective of the day’s success,” Gibbs added.
