Becomes full partner.

Epson has elevated its partnership with Planet Ark moving to the top tier and becoming a full partner with Cartridges 4 Planet Ark. This innovative recycling program provides Australians with a free, easy and environmentally-accredited way to recycle their used printer cartridges.

With over 4,000 Cartridges 4 Planet Ark collection boxes located across Australia, it’s easy and free to recycle used cartridges. Regardless of where the cartridges were purchased from they can be dropped off for recycling into any of the collection boxes which are located at participating retailers and employers. With a zero-waste-to-landfill guarantee the program also promotes and enables strengthened business sustainability and mitigates risk relating to hazardous e-waste. Businesses are rewarded with resource recovery certificates and a potential reduction in waste costs. The program, now in its 14th year of operation, is on track to surpass 36 million cartridges recycled.

As cartridges are made up of a complex mix of plastics, metal and inks they represent a significant investment in resources, Epson Australia business division general manager, Craig Heckenberg said. “However, when they are disposed into landfill these resources are lost which is why Planet Ark joined with Close the Loop and participating manufacturers to set up the program. This involves collecting and returning cartridges for remanufacturing and recycling and keeping them out of landfill,” he said.
